Hello! My name is Riley Helgoe. I am from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and have been in Missoula for the last five years. I earned my Associates Degree in Business Management and am currently working on my Bachelors Degree in Philosophy.
I was raised in a nominally Lutheran/Non-denomonational household though I lived as a practical atheist. After moving to Montana, my mother, who returned to the Church of her youth, convinced me to do RCIA and be received into the Catholic Church. After years of worldly living in highschool and my first two years of college, I agreed I needed a change. Through the Grace of God I was confirmed into the Church on Easter of 2014, and my life has never been the same. "What is man that You magnify him, and that You are concerned about him?" - Job 7:17
In my third year of peer ministry at CCM, I am very excited to continue working with new UM students and old, as we learn more and live out our faith together.
Lauren Orozco - Peer Minister - firstname.lastname@example.org
Lauren Orozco is a senior at the University of Montana. She is currently working on a B.A. in Anthropology with a concentration in Archaeology as well a B.A. in Philosophy. She is a born and raised Catholic however, was not practicing until she moved to Missoula and came to a College Night mid-school year. Lauren’s exploration of different cultures brought to light that there are similarities cross-culturally in religions. This led to Lauren further investigating deeply human questions and turning to literature and the Bible. The eventual outcome has been Lauren’s exploration and walk in the faith. She now has interest in studying the faith in cultural context and Catholic Social Justice Theory. Lauren also enjoys coffee, poetry, literature, film, surfing and playing the trumpet. Her archaeological research involves exploring the intersection of race, and gender in the archaeological record. Lauren is originally from Long Beach, California and speaks Spanish fluently.
As a peer minister I am looking forward to this school year and the events, activities, and gatherings we will have to have fun and explore our faith as a community.
Taylor Hansen - CCM Peer Minister - email@example.com
Hi! My name is Taylor Hansen and I am originally from Liberty Lake, Washington. My parents and I have been long time Griz fans, but the University’s Curriculum and Instruction program is what ultimately brought me to Missoula. I am currently half way through a degree in Elementary Education and have a special passion for Mathematics education. When I’m not in a classroom you can catch me soaking up the sun by a lake, drinking coffee with friends or marathoning something on Netflix. I have been involved in Campus Ministry in a variety of different ways over the last two years and I am SO excited to serve as a peer minister. We’ve got big ideas for this year, and we’re happy to have you here!
Liz McMahon - CCM Peer Minister - firstname.lastname@example.org
Howdy! I'm Liz McMahon and I have been in Missoula for a year now after growing up in good ol' McKinney, Texas! I will be starting my Junior year at the University of Montana as a Communication Studies Major with a minor in Communicative Science and Disorders ( a mouthful, I know!) with the hopes of becoming a Youth Minister one day! I enjoy Ultimate Frisbee, making knotted rosaries, and taking naps in my hammock! As a "Cradle Catholic" my faith has always been a part of my life, but the Lord fanned the flame while I was in High School and I have been striving to share and live my beautiful Catholic faith ever since! As a Peer Minister, I am so pumped to engage with students and share God's radical love with all that I meet! God Bless!
